Work with us

We are a small Sydney outfit running carpentry, concrete and guard rail. If you are good on the tools and sick of being a number on someone else's roster, this is worth a conversation.

Carpenter working on formwork on a Sydney site
Short answer

Homestead Group hires formwork and structural carpenters, concreters, guard rail installers and labourers across Greater Sydney, based in the south-west. Send experience and a contact number to admin@hsgroupnsw.com.

Most trade job ads say the same four things: competitive rates, great team, ongoing work, must have own transport. We will skip that and tell you what the work actually is.

We run three trades rather than one, which means the work varies more than it would at a specialist outfit. A formwork carpenter here is not doing the same edge form every day for a year. It also means if you are good at one of the three and interested in the others, there is somewhere to go.

Roles

What we take people on for.

Not every role is open at every moment. Send something through anyway; we would rather know you exist before we need you.

Formwork carpenters

Slab, wall and column forms, set-out from drawings, stripping and stacking. Ticket and experience both matter here.

Structural carpenters

Wall, floor and roof framing to engineered drawings, tie-downs and connections, and remedial timber work.

Concreters

Base preparation, steel placement, pours and finishing across domestic, industrial and repair work.

Guard rail and barrier installers

Barriers, bollards, wheel stops, handrails and balustrades in car parks, warehouses and on strata buildings.

Labourers

Site prep, strip-out, barrowing and support across all three trades. The realistic way in if you are starting out.

Straight up

What the job is actually like.

It is real site work

Early starts, weather, concrete, and the occasional night or weekend pour when a facility cannot shut down. If that is not what you want, this is not the job.

Small team, not a labour hire number

You will know who runs the company because you will be working alongside them. That cuts both ways: nobody is invisible here, good or bad.

South-west based

Most of our work sits between Liverpool, Bankstown, Fairfield and the western corridor. Less time in the car than a lot of Sydney trade jobs.

Three trades, not one

If you want to stay narrow you can. If you want to pick up a second trade properly, we would rather train someone we already trust.

FAQ

Questions people ask before applying

For trade roles, yes on both counts. For labouring, transport to site is on you but tools are not.
Ask. It depends on what the workload looks like at the time and whether we can give an apprentice proper supervision rather than parking them on a broom. If we cannot do it properly we will say no rather than take someone on.
A White Card at minimum for any site work. Beyond that it depends on the role: working at heights, EWP and licences for specific plant come up regularly. If you are short one ticket but right otherwise, tell us and we will talk about it.
Email admin@hsgroupnsw.com with what you have done, what tickets you hold and a contact number, or just call. A short honest message beats a formatted resume with nothing in it.
